Peter & Laura

When looking for a home, Peter and Laura were adamant about four things - a great neighborhood with things to do + eat, generous sized bedrooms, outdoor space and close enough to the hospital for Laura to walk to work. They easily settled on Queen Village to check off two of those boxes - a charming, leafy stretch of historic Philadelphia. To check off those other two, they found 1010 South Reese Street. It’s been a home filled with family, friends and memories as they grew their own family with Henry. Now, they are on to their next journey in a new state as Laura continues her medical training in a fellowship, but have loved every part of their stay in Philly. From the firework viewing to the date nights in the neighborhood to the mural walks around the city, this has been their home. And they are ready to see 1010 South Reese be a home to someone new just like it was for them. Here is the story of Peter, Laura and Henry and their stay in Philadelphia.

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
Grandmillennial! A mix of chinoiserie, estate sale finds and bamboo-inspired pieces.

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?
Dream On by Aerosmith

How would you describe your neighborhood?
A pet and child friendly community with a multitude of coffee shops, restaurants and shops within walking distance. There is always something new to explore.

What was your non-negotiable when it came to finding your dream home?
A great neighborhood within walking distances to Laura's job at the the hospital, outdoor space, generous-sized bedrooms, and close proximity to restaurants.

What's your favorite room? Why?
The bright and light-filled nursery because we have many fond memories of spending time there with our newborn son. We also love our open first floor living room and kitchen as it is a great place to entertain! We've hosted Friendsgiving for three consecutive years.

What is one thing you need in your home to make it yours?
Lots of photos of our family and travels.

What makes you (or your family) laugh?
A good quarantine meme.

If you could throw a theme party in your house, what would be the theme?
Given the times, a masquerade.

A day spent running around the neighborhood: what's your first stop and last stop?

We'd start our day grabbing coffee (Maple Jawns!) from Shot Tower and pastries from Fiore. Our night would end having dinner al fresco at either Good King Tavern or Bistrot La Minette.

How has your home changed from move-in day?
We installed black-out blinds for when Laura needs to sleep during the day post-call, added custom closets in all bedrooms, wallpapered the guest bath and transformed our office into a nursery!

What's your favorite memory of your home?
Watching the fireworks from our rooftop with friends, hosting celebrations and bringing our baby home!

What was the catalyst to you purchasing a new home?
We purchased this home when Laura was starting her residency and we're moving so she can continue her training in a fellowship out-of-state.

What's your favorite piece of Philly culture?
Peter would certainly say Eagles/Sixers/Phillies/Flyers! We also love walking around town admiring the many murals and examples of Isaiah Zagar's mosaic art that dot the neighborhood!
