When looking for their home, Natalie and Geoff wanted to story. The wanted a home with a history and good bones that they could make their own. In finding 2415 S. 12th Street, they saw the opportunity to add their own eclectic style, like a funky patterned floor in the kitchen, some bold colors throughout and exposed the brick for a mix of industrial. In their time on 12th Street, they watched Owen grow and brought home the twins, Faye and Dean. This home has seen such an important part of their family and they want it to be passed on to someone with just as special an adventure. Also, for an added bonus, Grandma stopped by for the photo shoot!

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
Eclectic

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?
Not sure - maybe Terrapin Station

How would you describe your neighborhood?
A great mix - young and old, new and young families, as well as families that have made this their home for multiple generations, with easy access to so many ammenities, transportation and art, food and community.

What was your non-negotiable when it came to finding your dream home?
A place that had a story and character, good bones, plenty of space, on a great block, that we could make our own.

What's your favorite room? Why?
The living room - it tells a story of history and new and old through its layers and different materials. It's also the space where our family spends the most time together.

What is one thing you need in your home to make it yours?
A dining room table - we eat most of our meals together and that's where we really take time to connect with each other each day.

What makes you (or your family) laugh?
All kinds of stuff, but we love to sing and dance and tickle.... all the silly noises the babies make, all make us laugh.

If you could throw a theme party in your house, what would be the theme?
Not sure we are big on themes, but we love Mexican food, and have done mexican decorations and pinatas, etc. in the past for kids birthdays.

A day spent running around the neighborhood: what's your first stop and last stop?

D'emilios on Passyunk or Amigos bakery on 12th street.

How has your home changed from move-in day?
Oh my goodness - it was wall to wall carpet throughout and even on the baseboards, the powder room made the dining room unusable and blocked the view into the kitchen, paint helped modernize everything through out, and higher ceilings made the already large space feel expansive. There was even marble wall slab on the room in the living room! We exposed the brick bring a more rustic feel to the place. While it has a ways to go, it's been a huge transformation from where it started.

What's your favorite memory of your home?
Bringing the twins home and expanding our family.

What was the catalyst to you purchasing a new home?
Our family has gone through many changes this year leading to our unplanned move. Our father-in-law may move in with us due to health reasons and needed first floor access without stairs - our current home just can't provide that. Our son has also been diagnosed with ADHD and requires more support leading us to look at different schools and other support. And Geoff's job is transferring him to a different location, all forcing us to look at a different situation for what is next for our family.

What's your favorite piece of Philly culture?
So many things, but probably the food and the community - it is a city of neighborhoods and neighbors.
