How would you describe your personal interior design style?

Midcentury Modern

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?

So fresh, So clean by Outkast

How would you describe your neighborhood?

It's a small community. It's not uncommon to bump into someone you know while out and about and people really look after one another

What was your non-negotiable when it came to finding your dream home?

Space to be able to host family and friends

What's your favorite room? Why?

Our family room. It's where we spend most of our time together

What is one thing you need in your home to make it yours?

A place to put our books!

What makes you (or your family) laugh?

Our son, Antonio. He's always finding a way to climb on something not meant for climbing

A day spent running around the neighborhood: what's your first stop and last stop?

A first stop is Fitzwater street bagels. The last stop is either the Schuylkill Banks Trail or Rittenhouse Square

How has your home changed from move-in day?

Our home is changed in many ways. We redid the kitchen and bathroom and added a powder room. We depaved our backyard through the City's Raincheck program. We added in bookshelves, closets, and recessed lighting. We removed carpet and linoleum in favor of hardwood floors. Antonio's room has been through many iterations. When we first moved in, it was a staging area for the tile that was eventually used in the bathroom. Then we turned it into a guest room. Gavin lived in that room for 6 months during the height of the pandemic, to minimize potential Covid risk to Joanna due to his position as a nurse on a Covid floor. Then, it became Antonio's room!

What's your favorite memory of your home?

Bringing our son home

What was the catalyst to you purchasing a new home?

We needed a little more space, now that we have a son

What's your favorite piece of Philly culture?

Probably the food scene. We like that it's easy to find a good beer and a burger, but there is also the option to eat at some of the best restaurants in the country
